Agriculture Service Technician Job Description

Partnering with a prominent name in Saskatchewan’s agriculture industry, we are seeking an Agriculture Service Technician to join our dynamic dealership team. The position involves performing diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on both customer and dealer-owned agricultural and turf equipment. Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough inspections, accurately diagnose issues, and perform repairs and services on a wide range of agricultural equipment, demonstrating a high level of customer support and craftsmanship in every task.
• Utilize advanced tools, cutting-edge technology, and innovative repair techniques to tackle complex diagnostics and repairs efficiently, ensuring equipment operates at peak performance.
• Carry out preventative maintenance on agricultural machinery and related components, following strict schedules and quality standards to prevent future malfunctions and ensure operational reliability.
• Stay informed on the latest John Deere agricultural product developments and upgrades to offer knowledgeable, up-to-date service.
• Operate diagnostic tools effectively and utilize computer systems to document work accurately and troubleshoot equipment issues.
• Participate in continuous learning through internal John Deere University and other dealership-led training sessions to enhance technical skills and remain current with industry advancements.

Qualifications:

• A Journeyperson Agricultural Technician certification is highly preferred
• Equivalent certifications in related mechanical fields, such as Heavy Equipment or Automotive Service Technician, will also be considered valuable.
• Extensive equipment repair experience – a minimum of three (3) years of hands-on experience and foundational education in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electronic systems, applying both theory and practice effectively.
• Must be able to perform essential repairs and routine maintenance, utilizing specialized tools and equipment while following detailed Technical Manual procedures to ensure precision and compliance, and adherence to industry standards.
• Product knowledge and a familiarity with John Deere equipment, as well as knowledge of competitive agricultural machinery, is a significant asset.
• Expertise and the ability to provide insightful diagnostics, perform precision repairs, and make informed recommendations to clients.
• Advanced mechanical knowledge and a solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems commonly found in agricultural and turf equipment, supporting complex diagnostics and high-quality repair work.
• Proficiency with computer systems, and a strong working knowledge of current business and diagnostic software is essential, as well as the ability to navigate and utilize computer functions necessary for modern diagnostics and service record management.
• Ability to operate diagnostic equipment and test vehicles, with fluent reading, writing, and comprehension of the English language for accurate communication and documentation.
