Manager of Accounting 

We are urgently hiring a Manager of Accounting on contract for our client, a leader in real-time, single platform  systems which support energy and grid management/wellness, providing commercial all-in-one air quality  monitoring systems that provide continuous, actionable data to help reduce the unseen risk factors that impact  the health and productivity of building occupants. The Accounting Manager would be a key member of the finance  team, would be responsible for supervising a small group of Accounting Clerks and interns, and would report to the  Director of Finance.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $100,000 per year, based on experience
  • 5% annual bonus
  • RRSP with up to 4% matching 
  • Occupational Training and regular 1:1 Coaching Sessions

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the month-end close and financial reporting process with adherence to US GAAP,  including completing and reviewing journal entries, supporting schedules, and balance sheet  reconciliations. 
  • Overseeing accounts payable function within the organization.
  • Identifying areas for improvement regarding all operational accounting functions in accordance  with company policies, procedures and controls.
  • Training, coaching, and developing junior accounting staff.
  • Working in collaboration with external consultants on year-end audit and corporate tax filings. 
  • Administering sales taxes for multiple states/provinces. Ensuring compliance with all GAAP,  federal, state and provincial laws.
  • Maintaining internal control framework including standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Supporting Director of Finance with cash flow management by monitoring bank balances,  initiating transfers, and forecasting cash needs.
  • Review purchase order requests and support the Director of Finance to understand business  procurement needs and priorities.
  • Act as a liaison between procurement and other departments to resolve any discrepancies or  issues related to PO approvals.
  • Supporting Director of Finance and CFO with forecasts, budgets, and key financial metrics.
  • Overseeing annual certificates of insurance process working in collaboration with insurance  provider.
  • Serving as the supporting administrator of Accounting software, optimizing where necessary to  support business growth.

Requirements:

  • Must have Accounting Designation (CPA)
  • 3+ years of full-cycle accounting experience, with 1+ years supervising junior staff
  • Audit and tax experience considered a requirement
  • Technical proficiency and demonstrated knowledge of US GAAP a strong asset
  • Advanced knowledge of inventory and cost accounting
  • Experience with NetSuite a strong asset
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel and Word skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
