Description:

Working with our Client, an established multi-disciplinary Civil, Structural, Mechanical and Electrical engineering firm with offices in London and Kitchener, we are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer in the London office. The successful candidate will manage the design and drafting team while providing design and drafting assistance to the engineers and MUST HAVE multi-unit residential experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of fee proposals as required
  • Review and seal their own and other team member’s design work as required
  • Responsible for projects from initiation to close
  • Managing and creating the project through internal ERP and record keeping
  • Reviewing project time and expenses and assisting with project invoicing
  • Act as the main point of contact with project stakeholders
  • Provide regular project updates and update project status as required
  • Review designs and drawings to ensure accuracy, adequacy, and conformance to the applicable codes and standards
  • Coordinate all aspects of projects with other discipline’s designs and drawings
  • Coordinate daily team priorities to achieve project milestones
  • Review and control project budgets
  • Provide technical guidance to junior staff
  • Attend design meetings and client meetings
  • Work within the project team environment from preliminary stages of the design through to completion
  • Assisting Construction Services team by ensuring proper handoff of projects and provide construction support
 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited Canadian University, or equivalent is required
  • Registered as a licensed Professional Engineer with the Professional Engineers of Ontario is required
  • 4+ years of relevant experience in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent required
  • Experience with Provincial and local Municipality design guidelines, the Ontario Building Code, and other applicable Canadian Engineering standards
  • Experience in the design of mechanical systems commonly used in multi-unit residential buildings is required.
  • Experience in private sector works, specifically working with private sector developers is considered an asset.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and AutoCAD suites
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective team builder with demonstrated abilities to motivate all levels of staff
  • Commitment to ongoing professional and personal growth; willingness to learn
  • Adaptable and flexible to changing priorities
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization
  • Capable of working on and/or leading several projects at the same time and with the projects in different stages
  • Ability to mentor and train junior staff in a team environment
